This is a variation of the basic Halter I did HERE..
For those of you who did not like the back on the first DIY halter; this one makes the back tighter.
I love taking one thing and creating different looks, is one of my favorite things to do.
Enjoy!

CUTE!!! What size shits are you using?? And I am assuming they are mens??
ReplyDeleteThis one is a men's medium, but really it just depends on how you want the shirt to fit. :) and thank you.
DeleteThank you Sandy:)))
ReplyDeleteLove it and will be trying to make it this weekend! Your Flag T shirt inspired us to paint one on our shirts!
ReplyDeleteAwesome!! Thank you!
DeleteTotally tried making this with a t-shirt that was too big so I still had sagging in the back. Instead, I twisted and twisted the straps until the back fit and then criss crossed them at the front and tied the straps behind my back instead of behind my neck and now I have a tube top.
ReplyDeleteWill try again with a better fitting shirt. Thanks for the no sew tutorials, keep them coming!
Katie,
DeleteMine turned out the same way. Sagging in the back and tight around the neck when I twisted the straps. Love the idea, just don't know where I went wrong. But I will keep trying..
Yes keep the no sew coming!!
Try and cut a deeper V in the front, then twist see if that takes up the slack in the back.
DeleteI also had this problem but found a solution...I cut a circle at the center ofthe back, just enough to tie a knot. worked great!!! Hope this helps, love this idea for glamming up old T's. thanks
DeleteHey, Anonymous, does the knot look bad or does it work well with the look of the shirt??
DeleteThat's super cute, thanks :)
ReplyDeleteThank you you Eszti!!
DeleteThat is SO freaking cute!!! I'm so making this!
ReplyDeleteThank you Liz:)
DeleteThis looks great ! Thanks for sharing, I will try this :-)

ReplyDeleteGreat job...love your blog :) I posting this on my FB page...lots of love from Canada eh!
ReplyDeletelove it!!! i'm pregnant and want to do this with a big shirt!
ReplyDeleteJust tried this! Super easy although I like mine without the cris cross on the front....
ReplyDeleteme too. but I like the other for a beach cover up, with an extra large Tee-shirt.
DeleteAwesome! Love it! Just tried it and it's amazing thanks for making a great no sew, easy tO follow tutorial!
ReplyDeleteThank you Ashley!!
DeleteI made this with my sons XL tshirts today just to try, the strap where not log enough and if u can sew a thin piece of elastic in the back takes out the sag and make it tight going to try one in my size later love it a long t for cover up at beach will be cool
ReplyDeleteI just made this! I cut the straps smaller at the shoulder seem because when I twisted the straps it was noticeably thicker there. It looks great. :)
ReplyDeleteIm on a DIY kick right now (lol) so this is on my list of ones to try!
ReplyDeleteAwesome Emily.
DeleteI love your blog!!!! It is brilliant, so excited to share it with my sister, she almost lives on the beach 6 months a year...Thanks!
ReplyDeleteThank you so much!! you have made my night!!
DeleteJust did this with a shirt that was too small to wear. just didnt twist and cross the straps.. left as halter. turned out super cute.
ReplyDeleteI am going to try this. Are the twisted straps wide enough to cut into threes and braid? I think that would be cute. Maybe also x in the back instead of halter tie to avoid sag.
ReplyDeleteawesome I thing that would work great!!!
DeleteI have a women's tahirt that has that soft fabric kind of tight fitting but not too tight. Will that worm as well or should I buy a men's tshirt? This is super cute and would love to make one!
ReplyDeleteI am not sure if that will work. Is it the same material as knit.? If it is a shirt you can experiment with why not try it and see. :)
DeleteCute! Thanks for sharing.
ReplyDeleteI love this idea! I'm featuring it on my favorite pins post this week @ www.planprepareandprovide.com. Thanks!
ReplyDeleteThank you so much Leanne:)
DeleteOne of my friends pinned this on Pinterest, and I am so glad they did!! This look is so cute! I will be trying it, as well. And I have bookmarked your blog! :-)
ReplyDelete-Michelle-
Thank you so much Michelle!!
DeleteI love your ideas. I am gonna try this tomorrow.
ReplyDeleteThank you Melissa:)
DeleteI just tried to make this and it didn't wok?!! I used a men's XL since I wear XL in women's and it came out all wrong! Plus it was Hanes
ReplyDeleteI am so sorry it didn't work. I only use Hanes Tee-shirts.. maybe the size was too big try with a smaller size. I had to do so many to get to the size that fit me. :(
Delete:D ¡Gracias!
ReplyDeleteMade this just now and I love it!!!! Thank you Thank you!!!
ReplyDeletethank you for this idea! I love it!
ReplyDeleteit worked but a little to big but made it work
ReplyDeleteThis is awesome! It'll be perfect for my oversized T I acidentally ordered XD I'm making it soon.
ReplyDeleteLove this! I wear size 2-4 and used a men's small t-shirt. It came out perfectly! Thank you!
ReplyDeleteTook me 5 minutes to make! How cool is this? A no Sew top! Love it, love it, love it!
ReplyDeleteThank you so much!
DeleteThis is super cute! I just finished making one and absolutely love it! I love the fact that you can wear it with the straps twisted or not depending on the look you want. Thanks so much!
ReplyDeleteJust made this. Love it but I think I need to use a size larger. Will try another size tomorrow!
ReplyDeletecool idea !!!! Thanks :)
ReplyDeleteHow did you get your straps in the back so long? that is one of my favorite features of the shirt but mine came out super short.
ReplyDeleteIf you look at the #2 and #3 picture, it is the back of the shirt. Make sure you are not cutting at the shoulder but you cut the middle of the back of the shirt. This make the straps twice as long. I hope this helps.
DeleteMaybe a video is needed. :) I will work on one.
Thank you I had nothing to wear for a bday party and now i do, its perfect
ReplyDeletehow exactly does "#2 Back" work? how do i keep the whole collar on the shirt??
ReplyDeleteAWESOME!! I've dropped a lot of weight this year and was lamenting what to do with some of my old "fat" shirts I still had. I'm going to try this tonight!
ReplyDeleteso. sexy. im totally going to try this once i get my hands on an old t-shirt
ReplyDeleteUsed this with a Batman shirt I never wore and LOVE how it turned out!
ReplyDeleteThe pics are all gone?!?!
ReplyDeleteI fixed it, thank you so much for letting me know:)
DeleteAnne! Help! I finally got the courage to try cutting my shirts up and I can't see the #1 front picture. I did successfully complete halter #1 but it will have to be a cover up. I'm hoping for success with #2. Love them!
ReplyDeleteI am so sorry working on that right now..
Deletethanks for working it out, Anne!
DeleteWITCH CRAFT!
ReplyDeleteWhen I saw this I imminently took on the t-shirt I was wearing to try it out. It worked perfect and I LOVE it. Thank you so much.
ReplyDeleteThank you so much Roberta :)))
DeleteDoes this work as well with a decal on the front across the boob area? I have an old ac/dc t shirt that would b freakin adorable, but i dont want to ruin it?! P.s....thank u SOOOO much for the no sew creation....I cant sew!!! :-)
ReplyDeleteI love this! Are you able to braid the ties instead of just twisting them?
ReplyDeleteI just wanted to say how amazing these DIY posts are! I've made most of your stuff from t-shirts and you've made it very easy to understand!
ReplyDeleteThank you so much.. that is exactly what I want to here. :)
DeleteThank you so much for sharing your creative ideas. I am going on vacation soon and will make one or maybe two for myself to take with me.
ReplyDeleteSo easy to do and perfect revenge on an ex who leaves stuff behind! Thanks for tutorial, my exes shirts fit me as a halter dress ;)
ReplyDeleteWhat size shirt do you buy to make this? Let's say I'm a Small/Medium T-shirt normally. Are these guy's large shirts? Do you have a brand preference?
ReplyDeleteHey there, This a mens' Extra Large. I wear a Womens Medium/ Large Normally.. and I always use Hanes T-shirts.
DeleteI did this but with a t-shirt that was too small at the sleeves so it was quite tight but it turns out great ! And instead of twisting I made a knot . It's pretty cool !
ReplyDeleteI mean instead of crisscrossing
ReplyDeleteI would love to see a picture:)
DeleteLove this! Just finished one of your other tutorials...and I'm about to swipe another of my husband's t-shirts to make this one! SO cute! thank you!
ReplyDeleteThank you so much Jennifer.:)
DeleteI love this! Thank you so much, now i can actually afford it! Thank you so much! <3 You saved my day(week) also since i need to make it in a couple of days for a project! <3
ReplyDeleteThis shirt is amazing! It took me only three minutes to make and it fits perfectly. I tied the straps where they cross the first time and it holds a lot better.
ReplyDeleteYour so Welcome XXOO!
