Make you own Sundress out of two Extra large tee-shirts.
This does require some sewing, nothing too crazy, just simple sewing.
Tutorial
Things you need
- Two extra large tee-shirts
- Scissors
- Large safety pin
- Sewing machine
Cut the front of #1 shirt like the picture above.
take the #2 shirt and cut it straight across,
right under the arms.
Before you sew #1 shirt to #2 shirt...
Cut two strips of knit about an inch wide from number 2 shirt * cut one end on each strip to make two long strings*
stretch them out and tie them together .
This makes the string that you are going to thread through the top of the sundress.
fold sideways Cut like the above picture for a fishtail sundress, cutting off the bottom hem.
* knit material does not fray so you don't have to hem it.*
or you can leave it straight if you want.
Sew about an inch hem all the way around the top.
Leave a space open at both corners,
Leave a space open at both corners,
this is where you will thread the string through.
cut two pieces off the hem, 1 inch long, fold in half and sew them like the picture above

ReplyDeleteI love your blog! It's uncredible, what you' doing with a simple t - shirt. I'll dry this sundress, maybe with two different coloured t - shirt.
ReplyDeleteThank you so much:)) I think color blocking this dress would be awesome!!!
DeleteBought a 4-pack of T's (black & gray) this morning, and already made the gray... haven't taken it off since I finished it!
ReplyDeleteSo awesome. thank you!! I love mine too. perfect for those hot summer days.
DeleteI think i'm going to try this with a couple of my husband's sports t-shirts. he has too many anyway, and that way i can have something cute to wear other than just an oversized t-shirt and jeans!
ReplyDeleteI wanna make one to go w/my boots and a sweater for the Fall season <3
ReplyDeletethat would be awesome
DeleteLove all your DIY projects! Such great, fun style! I wondered, do you "brine" the shirts first so they're soft? The shirts I bought for some of your DIY's are a little stiff even after I wash them. Yours look so soft and flexible.
ReplyDeleteThanks for all of your inventive ideas!

Grey seems to stay softer than the others, but all of the Hanes Tee-shirts I use stay pretty soft. I only use Hanes. and thank you so much:)
DeleteI found your site through Pinterest and I'm so glad I did. These are all soooo amazingly creative!!!! I can't wait to try these! I live in Arizona and it is hot 7 months of the year so t-shirt material is perfect to stay cool... now I can do it in style! : o ) Thanks so much for showing these!

ReplyDeleteThank you so much Angela::)
DeleteDo you make stuff to sell? This dress is awesome and i unfortunately don't sew at all! Love the idea though.
ReplyDeleteThank you so much.
DeleteNo, I do not right now, But that might be in my near future.
Can you give some guidance on sizing? I normally wear XS/S in tee-shirts so I'm a bit concerned about making this dress with XL...afraid that it would be huge on me! I'm petite. Thanks!
ReplyDeleteI would just go up one or two sizes depending on how much room you want in it.
DeleteI wear a small or medium in mens, sizes and a medium large in womens. I am 5'7" and about 140lbs:)
Just tried this and I can say it does not drape so beautifully on a short, wide person like me! However, I chopped off the second t-shirt (after staring woefully into the mirror) and it makes a great top :)
ReplyDeleteIs it possible that different stapes could be made for it? I think would be cute with wider straps & add a cardigan some leggins & boots. My email is valmckain85@gmail.com
ReplyDeleteI love your creations! Can you please make me one I have been digging in my closet for a shirt I could use and I can't sew anyway so please let me know if you can I am a HUGE FAN!!!
ReplyDeleteHey Manal, Thank you so much for taking time to send me this message. I am so sorry that I can not make you this dress. I work a 40 hour a week job and I do my blog on the side and I just have no extra time. I am truly sorry. I hope you have a wonderful night.
