Re-Style#54, Five Minute Draped Vest #2













 This Re-Style will be slightly different, because I am adding  video instructions. Gasp!
That's right, I am jumping off the dock and into the dark, cold waters of the unknown.

Tutorial 
Things you need
  1.  Extra large, Shirt Mens Shirt * I use Hanes Tee-shirts.
  2. Scissors
 Cut where the red marks are.
 Here is a quick video on how I did it

 You can also use it as a scarf , just wrap around your neck and pull one end through the hole.

      wow, this is amazing. My Mother has been a professional self taught seamstress for 56 years, specializing in wedding dresses. I unfortunately did not get that gene, so a no-sew anything is so cool! I think I could actually do this one....thanks a bunch!

      This was AWESOME!!! I never would have thought of it but I surly will be making these. The video was great just needed you to be closer to the mic because it was hard to hear. Loved it though!!!

    Thanks for sharing!! I'm so excited to try this! I just had a baby and ony have the long sleeve "cover ups" and everyday I wish I had some w/o sleeves, I live in Hawaii and long sleeves are kind of a pain most days, but I hate to go shopping....this and the "Sarah vest" will be perfect :)

      Hey Ashleigh!!! The Kind of T-shirts I use are Hanes T-Shirts they are a little thicker but still thin enough to fall nicely. I would love to see how yours looks when you are done. Have a Fantastic day.

    Love it! My girls (ages 10 and 11) and I each made one in different colors! I am a size small, and they are size 10/12 kids, and Men's Medium t-shirts worked great for all 3 of us :) The only caution I'd give is using an old shirt that's too worn - it just didn't cut as nicely. Great idea! Thanks!

    TIP: SAVE your SLEEVES! They make great headbands! I just cut mine a bit, then put it on! Super cute as is! :)

    Well, I just raided my husband's closet for a shirt and found one I know doesn't fit him and made a vest. Making the vest was so easy. I need to be more careful next time and cut out the lines neater.

    I normally wear a xl or 2x and I made it out of a 3x and got along fine. Had to cut the neck bigger but it looks and feels great....

    I'm a tap dancer and am wondering if this would work for part of a costume. Also, have t-shirts left over from the senior olympics. What would it look like done with shirts that have screen prints on them?

    I just did this and it's adorable! I used one of my huband's long-lost t-shirts (he has dozens - he'll never miss it!). Took me a little longer than 5 minutes, only because I had to trim edges to eliminate jaggedy bits, and I started with a smaller cut around the neck and went back several times to cut more out so it would fit looser.

    This is perfect for Florida, where we like the layered look, but don't need the extra warmth! Thank you!

    The video doesn't match the pictures--isn't that for a diff vest? I really want to do this!

      This vest, that is pictured is the exact same vest as is in the video. I do have some different vest. The one on here is the one in the video.:)

    I found this on Pinterest and was so excited to find out how to make the vest for $5 instead of spending $20 for the same thing at Target! I can't wait to make one...and one for each of my 5 girls. Actually I think we'll have a craft day and each make our own!

    How do you keep the cut edges from looking choppy?? I used a long sleeve t and when I cut out the sleeves, they were too curvy and didn't hang nicely at all! The back of mine got too skinny too!

      Hey there, I have never used a long sleeve shirt for this, only short sleeve shirt. I am not sure why the back of yours was too skinny, maybe your shirt was too small. I used a xlarge mens shirt. Sorry that yours didn't work out!:(

    I made mine with a large instead of an xl. It still turned out great, but it's just about hip length on me so I don't have to worry about it getting caught on stuff at work.

    Love this! I just saw it this morning went and swiped a shirt from my husband and am wearing it this afternoon. Soo cute and soo easy! Love it. I'm on the hunt for some pretty bright colored shirts to cut up and wear. I also love that it can be a vest or scarf depending on my mood! Thanks so much for the awesome tutorial!

    This looks so cute......I just got a Susan Graver dress from QVC and wanted something to wear over it and this is it.... My dress is Black so Im thinking a white tee shirt.I have my g-sons graduation coming up and I want to look nice....
