No Sew, Tee Shirt- Tied Halter, DIY

Looking for a halter top for the beach or the hot summer days.
  Here is one you can make in minutes out of a tee-shirt, without any sewing.
Tutorial
Things you need.

  1. Tee-shirt ~ Mine is a medium mens~
  2. Chalk
  3. Scissors
 Trace your lines with chalk and cut
 this is the back 
cut along the red lines

 Then tie the straps around your neck.
The back

 You can modify any way you like.  
Tie the straps if you want a different look.



Perfect for the beach, with jeans, a skirt.

    I tried it and the back hung down really low. What can I do to make it better?

      you can gather the back together and stitch it. or you can Criss cross the straps to make an X in front of your neck and then tie it around the back of your neck. That makes it a little tighter.

      or don't cut straight across the back. when you remove the sleeves, cut a couple thin strips from them and, instead of removing the back section, tie the strips around it, making a sort of racer-back halter-ish top. that will hold the bottom up but still open up all but the center of the back.

    Made one tonight and i have to say it was easy but didnt quite fit like id like it too.. May need to use a small instead of medium to fit better. Thanks for the idea :) had a few t-shirts i never wore to use this on.

    Found you through pinterest and just made this halter. I love it! I'm thinking its a great bathing suit cover for the pool or lake. For the droopy back I just folded it under and I think that it makes it sexy when it hangs so low. Thank you for such a creative idea!

    Thank you so much! I just made two halters black and white. I also added rhinestones at the neckline. I am wearing the white one now with a long black maxi skirt. My husband says it looks sexy and fits well. Your tutorial is great. I FOUND you on pinterest btw...

    Saw this on Pinterest. I tried it out with one of my husbands old t-shirts but it was a large and the back hung way too low. Tried it again with one of my own old t-shirts (a small) and I really like it! I'm thinking of buying some cheap graphic t shirts to add a little flare to this idea.

    I am making three different styles for a weekend at "STURGIS' for this weekend for me and my bestiest friends .. great ideas and so easy.. the halter worked great for still keeping the back design of awsome shirt it places down low and sexy. I made the one shoulder teeshirt that had a tire track on the saved shoulder looks wonderful. thank you for interesting designs

    Something neat with this that I tried was I cut the straps into three sections and braided them! It looks really cool! I think I am going to bleach a design on the front!! :) (same anon btw) I just love this! I'm going through my closet finding shirts to chop up!

    Hi there! Finally got around to making this, I love it and will be making more of them! But, I really love the way it looks if I criss cross the straps before tying it behind my neck. The only problem with that, is the shirt wants to slip inwards towards the middle of chest when I wear it this way. (I wear it with a bandeau amyway, but it would be nice if it stayed in place)any suggestions?

    Just made this from a free Jameson t-shirt that I got at a bar. It is REALLY big. Long enough to be a dress! It's cold so I will be wearing it with leggings and boots tonight for St. Patty's Day! Very simple and cute.

    Love this, thank you. I am trying though, to understand the meaning of "Tie the straps if you want a different look." on the modified version. Is it still tied behind the neck?

      Yes it is still tied behind the neck. Tying the straps just makes it a different look in the front:) I hope this helps.

    I made one for my daughter. But i cut strip on the back and tie them together, about ten of them, not she wears my old tee as a swim suit over.

    I just made this last week. I tweaked it just a bit - to show off a teensy bit of cleavage, and not so much back (I'm not a skinny little thing, no one wants to see all that). It was a great, sexy, and oh-so-comfy shirt for a Saturday night of drinks and dancing.
