Racer back tee DIY #2, braided back.

There are so many ways you can change up the racer back tee shirt,
and as promised this is one of them:
 Braiding the back.

This is how it looks before you cut it.
 Cut across the collar
and trim excess material around the collar up too the hem
 to make it look clean.
 then divide into three sections
 and braid

I hand stitched the end to the top collar.

When you braid it, it  makes the shirt a little more fitted,
by taking up the excess material.
So if you want it tighter around the chest area this it what you do.

Here is my Flag Braided back tee complete with a Video

Have a fantastic Friday.
Lots of <3,
Anne

  3. I think if you cut your strips farther down, it would pull in and be more gathered, do ya think? Can't wait to try this!

  4. Hi there,

My partner has just been harrased onto giving me one of his tops to "restyle" following your directions. It took me 15 mins max and am now feeling very arty and clever, haha. Used the sleeves from another "restyled" tshirt and added pockets to this design also. Happy Happy Days, thank-you lots :o)

  6. I liked this post so much I mentioned it on my own blog. I love that this is practically a no-sew project, and yet it looks so nice! Keep up the good work, can't wait to see more.

  8. The photos showed how to cut the shirt just fine, but the front was much too revealing! I tried on the shirt and it fully showed my boobs!! Good idea.. Not photos!!! Terrible

    1. I wear mine with a tank top or as a beach cover up. Also a smaller size should fix that:)

  9. Has anyone tried it with round neck T's? I ended up buying the wrong style...

    1. You can do it the same way, it will just be a round neck instead of a v neck.

  10. I have, and modified it a bit(to fit my needs for it). I took off the collor(with a seem ripper because it was easier than cutting it off and neater) and cut it more into a V than a straigt line in the back(*not removing fabric, just cutting it),cut the 3 strips(one strip will have a V in it but you can still braid it), braided it, sewed the braid to the tip of the V(in sturdy place(s)), and if you leave it, there will be a mind swoop in the front, but to get a more V you just cut the front into a V. Or you can do it without the extra step in the back, take off the color then cut in a curved line to replicate the back of a collor like in this version(just without the actual thick fabric of collor), braid, sew, and cut the front into the desired V length. Or if you don't mind the round neck, you can just have a round neck one and do as instructed in the directions.

  16. I'm wondering if you think this would work with one of those box shaped men's tank tops ( the type with the skinnier straps, not the muscle tank style) ?!?!
