Glitter 2014 Tee-shirt, DIY

As 2013 comes to a roaring close, I take a somber look back on everything that has happened this past year. Let me just say it has been challenging, to say the very least. Even though I have been tested, tried, surprised and amazed  I always look at my life as a learning experience.  I am constantly asking myself the question "What can I learn from what is happening to me at the moment."  The Good things are much easier to navigate through but you have to be able to navigate through the Bad,  that is what shapes and molds us into the person that we are.
I have always felt like something wonderful is just around the corner and THAT is what keeps me motivated. I have the ability to see the positive and focus on that, it is quite a gift. Because of this challenging year, I am not unhappy to see 2013 pass.  I am, however, very excited for 2014.  This a chance to start fresh, seeing the good in everything and focusing on it.  I am very thankful for my wonderful Family, Husband, Children and Friends. Without our connection to one another I feel we are lost. Maybe that is why the internet is so popular,
we are connected to everyone at the touch of a button.
I hope that you bring in the New Year with the thought of something wonderful happening to you.
May you and your loved ones be blessed in the year 2014.
I have made this  Shirt just to remind me this will be the best year ever.

Daily Threads.

I just want to let you all know that my life has been very busy outside of my blog.
I am missing posting so much that I am thinking about giving up sleep
in order to post more. But seriously,
I hope to get back into posting regular DIYs at least 3 times a week very soon.
On another note, some really exciting things are happening and I have to keep on track.  I have a 40 hour a week job and I write for two other blogs with more blogs wanting me to contribute to their sites, and I am trying to balance
my family life with my job life and my Blog and DIY life.
I know there are lots of people out there doing the exact same thing and they can totally relate to a " I HAVE TOO MANY THINGS TO DO AND NOT ENOUGH HOURS IN THE DAY TO DO THEM." kind of life.   I am truly blessed and my only wish is that one day this will be my full time job along with helping others create and stretch their imaginations. I want to  thank you all for being so
supportive and sending me such positive energy.
It is because of you  that all of this wonderful magic is happening.
I posted some of my daily outfits this week on Facebook and Instagram,
my quick fix blogging, and I wanted to share them with all of you.
I hope you have a wonderful weekend,
and I hope to see some of you at Michaels in Davenport, FL on Sunday from 1-4
for the Fun Crafting event put together by I Love To Create .com
I will leave you now with this daily note that I wrote to my team at work.
"Take whatever comes to you and turn it into something POSITIVE."
I try to do that everyday and God knows some days are harder than others
but the reality is the only person I can control is me
and I choose to stay happy and positive because life is beautiful.
I love you all.

Spooky Spider Shirt DIY

I was experimenting with some plastic spiders the other day.
I really wanted to use them as a stencil for a spider shirt.
Here is how it turned out.
 Tutorial,
 Things you Need
  1. Shirt
  2. Scissors
  3. Tulip Spray Paint
  4. Plastic Spiders
  5. Bead in a bottle *Optional
  6. Arleen's Tacky Glue
 Cut the collar off
Spray the back of your spiders with glue.
* you might want to wear gloves because the glue got all over my hands.

 Stick to your shirt.
Spray over top with Tulip Spray paint.
let dry about 30 min and peel the spiders off.
If you wanted to accent the spider eyes with glitter paint I think that would look really good.
Very subtle  spiders crawling up your shirt.

Great for a last minute spider costume for Halloween.
Happy Tuesday!

Glitter Spider Pins

Want a touch of Scary Sparkle for Halloween?
I made these Spider pins last year and everyone wanted one, so I made some more this year.

 Tutorial
Things you need
  1. Spiders *Michaels
  2. Glue (Mod Podge or clear nail polish) * Wal-mart, Michaels
  3. Glitter (I used super fine glitter from Martha Stewart) *Michaels, Wal-mart
  4. Brush
  5. Pin Backs *Wal-mart, Michaels
  6. Glue Gun *Wal-mart

 coat with glue
cover with glitter top and underneath,
let it dry about 2 hours then  Repeat
Once they are all dry, coat with on final coat of glue to seal in the glitter.

Turn the  spider upside down and fill the belly with hot glue,
carefully place your pin back on the glue hold for about 20-30 seconds until it sets up.
* Make sure the you place the pin as seen in the picture, it is easier to open and close.
You could make any color you want.
Scary Sparkle!
Have a wonderful day

Men's Shirt Re-Style

My husband had a shirt that he did not like, so I re styled it for me.
 Tutorial
 Things you need
  1. Old men's shirt
  2. Scissors
  3. Chalk
  4. Chain (I used 14 inches)
  5. Sewing machine
  6. Pliers
  7. Needle and thread

Turn your shirt inside out and lay it flat.
Take a shirt you already have that fits you perfect and lay that on top of your shirt.
This will be your pattern.
Trace around it.
mark with chalk where you traced.
 Pin your shirt.
* I would carefully  try on your shirt at this point to make sure that it will fit the way you want.
Using your sewing machine sew where you placed your pins.
 Trim the excess
I marked my shirt around the seams.
*You do not want to make this to be to big or it will show body parts you may not want to be seen.
 cut the marked place out
Fold down the bottom flap and sew this as well.
Repeat on the other side.
I marked and measured 7 inches of chain and attached it to my shoulder buckle
(* If you do not have a buckle on your shirt, you could use a pretty ribbon
or a smaller chain and just hand sew it to the shoulder.)
Using my needle and thread I attached the other end of the chain to the shirt
right at the end of the pocket. The pocket was a guide so that both sides would be even.
I also let the rest of the chain just hang loose.

Now you have a re-styled,  kind of edgy shirt.
That shows just a touch of skin.
I hope you all have a wonderful weekend!

Anne
