I was debating over a couple of Re-Styles this week, but because of a few parties, the glitter heels won out in the end.
Welcome everyone to my Project Re-Style Monday.
I have only 5 more Re-Styles left to reach the the one year mark.
I can hardly believe that a whole year has passed.
This week I am saving a pair of shoes from the garbage. Glitter heels have been all over the internet, from I Spy DIY's Glitter heels to A Pair and a Spare's Glitter boots. I am going to use what I have learned to save a pair of my beloved heels from the trash bin. One night while I was having a wonderful time, my poor heels went through a grate, shredded beyond repair.
Ruined ~so I thought~
But leave it to a little glue and glitter to save the day. Not only did this hide my poor messed up heels, it gave my shoes just enough sparkle for that holiday party.
So Girls, if you have a pair of shoes you love, but feel like you can't wear them because the heel looks like a cheese grater, grab your glue and glitter and get to work.
Things you need
- Glitter ~I used Martha Stewart, fine glitter in Smoky Quartz ~
- Glue ~ Mod Podge~
- Paint brush
- Paper plate
Mix your glue with you glitter
make a thick paste
Place the mixture on your heel.
let dry,
Repeat
Now you and your shoes can hit the town,
47 down 5 to go
I hope all of you have a wonderful night.
Thanks for joining me,
Come back next week to see what I do for #48.
Lots of <3,
Anne

I love this and the color of the glitter you used! Beautiful!
ReplyDeleteThank you so much!!
ReplyDeleteI'm SURE I've got some heels that need fixed!!!
ReplyDeleteI LOVE, LOVE, LOVE it!!! I've wanted to do this for a long time. I need to find a pair of heels to do this to...
ReplyDeleteLOVE them!! What a great solution! I'm off to scuff up a pair of heels so I can try this out (wink) ;)
ReplyDeleteThey look hot, perfect for the End of the Year Party!!!
ReplyDeleteOMG, love love love this Anne!! Happy Holidays!!
ReplyDeletei wonder if this can be applied over a whole shoe??!?! i "need" some glitter shoes, bought a pretty conservative and need some sparkles thrown in. What kind of glitter did you use?
ReplyDeleteI used Martha Stewart ultra fine glitter, and yes I think you could do this to the whole shoe. Just put and extra coat of mod podge as a sealer and top coat.
ReplyDeleteI can't wait to try this...I have some heels in desperate need of help and a little pizazz!
ReplyDeletecame over from pintrest. OMG so genius. Thank you!
ReplyDeleteThis is awesome! A lot of my heels are ruined from all the ice/snow/gravel-thrown-on-top we have where I live. This is a perfect way to save my heels just a little longer!
ReplyDeleteWOOOWW.. very good for the try
ReplyDeleteGreat idea!!! Love the glitter, how fun:-)
ReplyDeleteI also came over from Pinterest. I found a brand new pair of fire-engine-red stilletos in my unusual size (11) at a thrift store for $7.
ReplyDeleteI bought them and wear them to really special occasions (I have foot problems). At my cousin's wedding, my shoes were complimented a LOT, but my feet were KILLING me, so, at one point, I sunk my heels into the gravel, in order to ease the load on the balls of my feet. A stylish woman came up to me and said, I love your shoes, but I am so mad at you! I said, "What? Why?", she said, "You are ruining your shoes!!!"
Oops, she was right. I still wear them, on occasion, but this project will give them a whole new lease on life! (Time to run out and buy silver glitter!) :-D
Love Love Love this project! Thank you so much for sharing!
ReplyDeleteYES! I have a pair of nude patent heels that are my absolute fave go to's. And they are ruined from rain grates and driving in them here in Seattle. This is EXACTLY what I need to do. I was wondering how the application worked, but this makes TOTAL sense. Thank you!!!!
ReplyDeleteAnother one from Pinterest here! :] What kind of glue did you use? I have a pair of black round toe pumps that I cannot get rid of but have the most ridiculous heels ever. Excited to try this!
ReplyDeleteHey Sarah, I used Mod Podge glue. It works great!!

Anne
Love this!! Are you going to glitter up a clutch bag next? Please say yes! :D
ReplyDeleteWynn
http://wynn-notetoself.blogspot.com/
This is a wonderful idea! Resourceful and helps to cut costs of buying new heels after a couple rough wears!
ReplyDeletei was wondering what glitter you used on your heels, I love the color and how they turned out! also, how many times do you repeat the process?
ReplyDeletethanks for the tutorial :)
Did you have to smooth out the heels first? i was wondering if sandpaper would be needed to give the heels a clean new finish. Thanks & great work! I love your sparkly heels!
ReplyDeleteKatie, I did not have to do anything but clean them really well. The glue and glitter covered everything completely.
ReplyDeleteSuch a smart cookie! I never thought about using this as a solution to hiding damaged heels. I wonder if it would look funny if suddenly all of my shoes had glitter heels~ Thanks for linking up at Etcetorize!
ReplyDeleteThis is SO awesome. I am definitely going to do this!!
ReplyDeleteHI! I did this! Your instructions and photos were so great, I was inspired! See my results here: http://cakeforbreakfast.net/2011/12/14/glitter-shoes/ My photos are a tad too dark, but the shoes look fantastic! Thanks!

ReplyDeleteThe author lies - it did not repair old shoes! He is impossible so to bleach a skin. He has put shine on new shoes!
ReplyDeleteI am sorry if it ruined your heels, This a fix for old messed up heels. It fixed mine. Not sure what you did, but mine worked great..
ReplyDeletesuch a great idea! thank you!
ReplyDeletexx www.yuliamoscow.com
This is pure genius! I'm sooo doing this to several pairs of heels I've been holding onto, but not wearing because of the nasty heel. THANKS for sharing!
ReplyDeleteI have a pair of black boots... wonder how this would look with black glitter?
ReplyDeleteWill try them, thx for sharing!
ReplyDeleteLove this idea.. but what if your shoes are a deep red. Would it look tacky to do this on colored shoes?? Or what would you suggest. The cream shoes look great with that glitter but I am afraid if I do it to red, it will look cheap.
ReplyDeletehey Brandi, I saw it done on a pair of fuscha heels and it worked very well. Scroll up from yours to Sarah's comments and she has a link to the pics. Both ladies did an excellent job with their shoes! If I wore heels I would be all over this, but I did pass the tip on to my mom.
ReplyDeleteI think a colored heel would look awesome. Even a gold on Red or a black on red would be nice. Sarah, in a comment above, has done a Red shoe and they look fantastic... I think I will try something a little more daring next time.
ReplyDeleteThanks
Everyone for all the sweet comments
Hugs
Anne
Really great hide! over from Pinterest!
ReplyDeleteThank you so much!!

Love this! Got any ideas for fixing the heels of heels worn to work? Glitter would not go over very well...
ReplyDeleteHey Colleen, I am looking into some different heels for you, for work. Send me your Email and I will let you know when they are done:)
DeleteThank you for the instructions. My brothers ex wife use to dazzle her shoes but would not share the technique. Thank you so much for sharing.
ReplyDeleteMyriam
your so very welcome, sharing is fun!!!
DeleteLOVE it!!! What a great idea!
ReplyDeletemartha stewart now has a paint with glitter in it at home depot!
ReplyDeleteI don't know if you already answered this, but, how many coats did you do? Also, did you need to put a "finishing" product on to seal it all up?
ReplyDeleteI put two coats of glue to seal it just to be safe!
DeleteThanks for the question!!
Anne
hi. I love this idea. thank you for sharing!
ReplyDeleteHow'd you get the shoes so white?
ReplyDeleteI cleaned them, but I think it is the lighting that makes them look white, they are actually a bone color.
DeleteI love this idea on the shoes. I will definitely try this. Maybe even on a pair of loafers that I have just for grins and giggles.
DeleteThis is an awesome idea! I don't have any "grated" shoes, but I bet I can find some in my closet that could use a little pizazz! Thanks!
ReplyDeleteYour Welcome,I love jazzing up shoes!!!
DeleteHave a great day!!

Wow this is so amazing, and so creative! I'm impressed! Thanks for the idea, I'll definitely try it out :)
ReplyDeletereally cool!!
ReplyDeleteAwesome! Love it!
ReplyDeleteJust a tip... I have done this many times and you will get a very neat clean edge if you masking tape the edge of the soles off before glittering... Then very carefully using a craft knife, trim the tape off so it does not pull up your glitter....now finish with the top seal coat.... Presto! A very professional looking job!
ReplyDeleteThank you so much for the tip.
DeleteHave a fantastic day!
Anne
This is Genius!!
ReplyDeleteThank you so much:)
DeleteI LOVE this idea and I can't wait to try it!!! Quick question...has anyone has issues with the glitter coming off or does the glue make it more stable and permanent?
ReplyDeleteHi there. Thank you so much!! I have worn my shoes out twice, since I have done this project and my shoes have held up wonderfully. I also put two coats of glue over the glitter, letting them dry in between, which seals the glitter in all nice and snug.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the question!!
Hugs,
Anne
Hey!I love your shoes !!!!
ReplyDeleteMy name is Argiro and i have black shoes what color should i put on the shoes and what kind of glue should i use??
I think Silver or gold glitter would look nice with Black shoes. I used Mod podge Glue for my project and it worked great. just make sure you put two coats of glue to seal the glitter.
DeleteAnne
my Email is argirotsilia@hotmail.com ! Thank you a lot :)
ReplyDeleteHi, did you use the whole container of glitter? And how much glue did you use w/ it?
ReplyDeleteI only used a very small amount of glue. maybe about 3oz for the shoes I did. But if your heels are bigger you might use more glue.
DeleteAnne
Love this so much I almost want to ruin a pair of heels to have an excuse to try it out... So pleased pinterest ma me see your post!
ReplyDeleteThank you so much Catie!!
DeleteBig Hug
glitter heels DIY still more interesting than buy it.
ReplyDeleteWhat a creative ideas for old worn shoes, but I think even new ones would work.
ReplyDeleteI have a pair of heels and I put a row or sticky tape that it came with rhinestones and put it on my shoes. Just ran the rhinestone up the heels. Never thought of something as simple as glitter.
Love your creativity and the shoes.
What a Wonderful Idea ... I just damaged a pair of heels this weekend, so I'll be fixing them this weekend with your wonderful technique :)
ReplyDeleteThank you Marina, I love simple fixes for things...
DeleteWorks with sand also, ladies, for less formal look!
ReplyDeleteooooo sand, that is an awesome Idea!!
DeleteI tried it with a pair on saddles....super cute!
DeleteDo you think that using the Gloss Mod Podge is a factor? I only have the Matte Mod Podge and I have no idea if that makes a difference or not!
ReplyDeleteI don't think it will make too much of a difference. I have used both gloss and matte. gloss leaves just a little more sparkle.
Delete:)
I recently had a friend tramp on the front of my heels while wearing her own creating a big rip on mine. Would this glitter fix work for an entire shoe or just the heel area in the back? - Justine
ReplyDeleteI don't see why it wouldn't work for the entire shoe. Try it out, if your shoe is ruined anyway, what do you have to lose.
DeleteThat's true, thanks! Have you tried the glitter on any darker shoes? I'm not sure what color to put on top of my black ones.
DeleteI recently bought a pair of secondhand wedding shoes and the heels are looking a bit worn so i'm definitely doing this so I can make them look like new again. I love the glitter, its gorgeous. thank you x
ReplyDeleteAwesome!! Thank you for visiting!!
DeleteThing we brega.AFF
ReplyDeleteWhat a great project! I've never done a DIY before, but I would like to try this. Where would I get Mod Podge glue from? Never heard of it. Lol. Also, when the glue dries, it dries clear?
ReplyDeleteOh, I just posted the last comment about the glue. My email address is Browny826@gmail.com. Thanks!!
ReplyDeleteso u mix the two do one coat let it dry nd do another coat dont u have to put jus the glitter on the shoe at one point. like oneof the steps???
ReplyDeleteYou can do that if you want to! It is up to you:)
DeleteI just used this idea on a pair of heels that looked like grated cheese. I bought the gloss modpodge and a variety pack of glitter as well as a stencil paint brush set. The color of the shoe was a grey and so I used silver glitter on the heels. It took 5 coats of the mixture but i am wearing these shoes today and they look fantastic! They look store bought! Thank you for this idea! It is saving me money!
ReplyDeleteYour welcome, and thank yo so much!!!
Delete:)
The glue does dry clear and I bought the modpodge glue at a Hobby Lobby but I believe any craft store will have this glue for sale. it comes it matt finish or the gloss. I bought the gloss.
ReplyDeleteYes it will dry Clear. I like the gloss finish.:)
DeleteIn the process now!! Just put first coat on! About how long do you think it takes to dry? You probably should let them dry completely right? I'm doing fine black glitter (JoAnn brand) on a very expensive pair of 4 inchers I have ruined. Thank you so much for this! Keep up with the great ideas!
ReplyDeleteGinny
I will definitely try this at home. Thank you.
ReplyDeleteBrilliant idea! I will try this myself
ReplyDeleteThank you so much.
Delete:)
Great tutorial, thanks! You used a gloss modge podge right, would you suggest that for a satin heel, or should I use fabric modge podge? Also, would you mind confirming if you did 5 MP steps, letting it dry completely in between? 1. Glitter MP 2. Plain MP 3. Glitter MP 4. Plain MP 5. Glitter MP?
ReplyDeleteThanks! You're awesome!
I had run across this on pinterest before and thought it was clever, but i looked it up tonight b/c I realized what terrible shape my black pumps are in after i wore them a couple days ago! I wasn't sure what kind of glue to use so i am glad i found your blog! Gonna give this a try with something dark. Thanks!
ReplyDeleteYour so welcome!! thank you..
DeleteI love it!
ReplyDeleteSo awesome. Thank you for the pictures in the tutorial! SO excited to try.
ReplyDeleteThat is awesome!! My shoes and I thank you!!
ReplyDeleteSo does anyone have a pic what it looks like on black shoes? btw I'm also over from Pinterest.

ReplyDeleteU are very smart and creative.u just blow my mind.I have a pair of boots that are peeling all over and i love love the boots and dont want to throw them away but glitter over the whole boots would be too much.Do u have any suggestions?THANKS
ReplyDeleteLet me start by saying thank you so much.. mmm you could try and glitter half and paint the other half. Or Glitter the whole boot the same color glitter if they are black use a super fine black glitter. I think That would look good.
DeleteGREAT!!!! Thank you! - Kรถszi! :-)
ReplyDeleteGreat suggestion. Will this work on patent heels?
ReplyDeleteIf you sand down your heel with a very fine sand paper it should work great.
Delete<3
I will get this
ReplyDeleteyou are a genius! am going to try this!
ReplyDeleteLovely!
Best, Zia
http://tisallaboutthefashion.blogspot.in/
Thank you Zia.
DeleteDo the heels need to be a certain material for the glitter and glue to stick? Thanks!
ReplyDeleteNo, although leather, suede and faux leather work best. I am not sure about patent leather I have not done that yet.:)
DeleteI love this and honestly can't wait to try this on my favorite black pumps. I have been hanging on to them but the heels are so worn! And I LOVE SPARKLE!
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing your tips. I am going to do this this weekend.

DeleteI saw this on Pintrest and fell in love. I am thinking of doing this to the shoes I am going to wear for my wedding in July. Of course, I need to do a practice run with another pair of shoes. Such a shame to have multiple pair of sparkly shoes ;-)
ReplyDeleteThank you. I have a pair of gorgeous leather shoes that the dog chewed just one of the heels leather. I refused to throw them out since I nevet worn them. Now I can make em Glitter wearable. Thank you again.

ReplyDeleteDo you think I should use a red glitter on a red heel? or would silver work?
ReplyDeleteSilver would look good or Red. Test it on a piece of paper then hold it up next to the shoe.
DeleteHave a great day let me know which one you pick.
I like these heels so much, I will also try this idea to my New season shoes whose heels has damaged. This will change the look of my heels and after that I can wear that on parties and on other occasions.
