Brown Leather Clutch.

I posted this over at Keeping it simple Last Friday  and I am just re-posting it here:)
Clothes Post later.

I have been eying this over sized Leather clutch for about 2 months. Then one day when I was in the attic, and I saw my Husbands old brown leather bomber jacket, just hanging out~ doing nothing.  Ding!~ Light bulb~Wow!, I could use this to make the clutch I want, (Squeal with excitement.)  I ran down stairs and asked K if I could have it and he said... YES!
So,I turned it into what is now my most favorite, clutch purse.

I Think it will go great with My New Leather Necklace I made.
Click HERE to see how I made that.

Here are a few of my Inspirations.

American Apparel Northern Lights.

I love the size and how minimalistic it looks,
and I am going to show you how easy it is to make.

Tutorial
Difficulty: medium easy
Things you need
1. Leather ~ for the size purse you want.
2. Sewing Machine
3. Some material for the inside lining of the purse, I used the lining of the jacket.  It had the words Paris Written on it, so I thought~ Perfection.
3. Scissors
4.  Zipper( I used the zipper from the jacket.)
5. Patience and about an hour.

1.   I cut out the back part of my jacket and made it so it would fit size of the zipper that I ripped out from the front of the jacket.
  2. Here are some awesome instructions for sewing a zipper in something, from the wonderful blog
this tutorial made zipper sewing so much less scary for me.

3. After I put in the zipper, I turned the purse inside out and stitched the sides together~ I left the zipper open, so I could turn it right side out.

4. Then I cut the lining from the inside of my jacket, the same  size as the purse,  folded it right sides together and hemmed the top, then I stitched  the sides.

5.After that, I placed the lining inside the purse and stitched the lining to the purse, at the top.

Now I am not an expert seamstress, I only  know the basics, and I am sure there is  a better way to do this. This is just the way I did it:)
And that is it, you are all done!
A free bag for me, and the kids can still eat lunch. YES!

The lining is my favorite.

Have a Beautiful Day Everyone!!

  4. OMG!!! I have a jacket my husband gave me 22 years ago, its way to small but I have held onto it for sentimental reasons. I just make try this, I'm just not sure my sewing machine can handle leather hmmmm. Thanks for always being an inspiration!
