I was on Skype with my beautiful Hannah this morning, as I was putting this post together. The first title that popped int my head was, Into the Wild, but thought "ohhh nahhh."

then I asked Hannah what I should call it.

She Said " What about, Into the Wild." I just laughed and typed in the title.

Our minds are pretty connected, even 4000 miles away.

This is just one of the ways I would wear my new sweatshirt.

Sunday with Sailor Sam: Sailor Sam Meets a New Friend.

Monday, Sailor Sam and I started off the week right , by eating yummy Strawberries.

Later that day, I caught Sailor Sam Planking on the water bottle.

Silly Sam.

Tuesday, Sailor Sam helped me line up some shots for a photo session.

Wednesday, Sailor Sam met a new friend. His name is Danny the Dragon.

At first Sailor Sam was a little scared.

But when Danny the Dragon took off his mask, he was just like Sailor Sam.

"See Sailor Sam," Danny said, " I'm not Scary at all. You wanna play?"

"Sure!" Sam said.

After that, they decided to change hats.

Sailor Sam then decided to introduce Danny the dragon to Ava and Eddie.

"Ava and Eddie, I would like you to meet my new friend, Danny the Dragon"

"Nice to meet you Danny" they both said.

Then, they decided to change hats, and laughed for hours.

After a long day of playing, they all had to go home for supper.

Thursday, Sailor Sam Asked if I could get him some Lemon Pound Cake.

"Of Course Sailor Sam. Lemon Pound Cake is one one my favorites. " I told him.

Friday, Danny the Dragon came back over to play.

Sailor Sam showed him how to plank on a bottle of nail polish.

" WOW, Sailor Sam, that is awesome!." Danny Said.

Saturday, As I was cooking dinner,

Sailor Sam told me that we would be going to New York one day soon.

Sailor Sam has such a great imagination.

He also said "Paris, in in our future very soon as well."

Wow Sam!!, that would be incredible.

Saturday night, before bed, Sailor Sam asked if we could play Lego, Harry Potter.

I said "Absolutely Sam, that game is so much fun.."

So we ended our busy week with a fun game and then Sailor Sam fell fast a sleep.

"Night Night, Sailor Sam.

Sweet Dreams."

Zebra Off the Shoulder Sweatshirt, Weekend DIY.

Need a weekend project?

Why not make an off the shoulder sweatshirt.

Choose a design you want and create something just for you.

My Zebra shirt has been a work in progress for about a week now.

It seems just when I think it is finished, I decide to change it.

I think now, I finally have it the way I want it.

Tutorial

Things you need.

Contact paper
Fabric paint
Paint brush
Scissors
X-acto knife
Cutting board
Sweatshirt ~ mine was a mens medium~

Wash and dry your sweatshirt.

Now you can cut your sweatshirt,

you might need to try it on, and measure where you want to cut it.

I cut short sleeves on this one, but you can leave the sleeves long if you want.

It is totally up to you, because it is your shirt.

Find the print you want. I printed one off the internet

then I cut a piece of contact paper, to match,

and taped the two pieces together,

and I also taped them to my cutting board~so that they wouldn't slip while I cut them.

Using your X-acto knife, I cut out all the black spaces.

then peel the back off your contact paper and stick it to your shirt.

Rub it well so that it adheres.

Paint,

let dry,

then peel off.

Let dry for 72 hours before you wash it.

Then wash in cold water and hang dry.

Go for the Gold.

I am really excited about how my DIY, gold jeans turned out.
I wore them last Saturday night, out with my Family and their spouses.

Of course, I mixed a little animal print in with them, just for fun!

I did a little R& R, so to speak, on these jeans.( a Re-Style of a Re-style)

I had decided that I wanted more gold color than jean color,
so I ended up painting them almost all over with tulip, gold fabric paint, on top of the other paint. You can purchase the gold fabric paint at any Michaels.

Who says you have to pay $250.00, for a pair of gold jeans.?

Chain and Rhinestone, Wrapped Bracelet, DIY

Silver with a purple cord

Antiqued bronze chain with a black cord.

I love the look of two chains with a layer of rhinestone in the middle.

I have made a couple different versions of this.
Here is one of them.

Tutorial
Things you need

Cord (Wal-mart)
Flat chain (Michaels)
Large needle
Two large jump rings (Michaels)
One large clasp (Michaels)
Rhinestone chain( Wal-mart)
Pliers
Glue

Measure your chain
Mine measured 6 inches

measure two pieces of chain
and one length of rhinestone
all three about 6 inches

with your pliers add one of large jump rings onto one end.

Thread your needle,
~ you don't need to have a needle, it just makes it easier for me~

to start:
weave the cord through the second link of chain and tie a slip knot.

it will look like this.

I made this make shift hook to hang on a tall glass.
Gravity helps this go much easier.

Now, I start up through the back, down through the front wrapping the rhinestone with the cord.

Continue this all the way to the end: Stopping at the next to the last length of chain.

I turn the bracelet around and tighten the cord with my needle from the back.. starting at the top and working my way down

Tie a knot at the back, secure with a drop of glue.

the back looks like this.

with your pliers add your other jump ring and your large clasp.

and your finished!

Sunday With Sailor Sam: Sam gets Lost

First and Foremost, I have fantastic news to report.

If you follow me on Facebook, Twitter or Instagram, you know this news already, But if not,

~Sailor Sam was Found Thursday at Bob Evans.

The Story goes like this.

I had a really busy Monday, a small speech,

then I had to take my Daughter to the airport, to Fly off to England. :(

After the speech and before the airport we stopped to get a bite to eat, at Bob Evans, where I apparently had left Sailor Sam in his case,on the floor, under the table. I did not realize he was missing until,

Wednesday, when I was leaving work. I went straight to my car and I checked it immediately

~ Nothing~ "HOME,he has to be at home." Then When I got home, I did a complete house search. Still No Sam.

Now panic starts to set in and I thought for sure

or he was cold, on the ground somewhere, just exactly the way I found him.

I can't Believe it!

I had lost him.

How careless of me to loose something that I love.

Mini breakdown!

After having a restless night, I woke up feeling very somber.

Then this wonderful thing happened. So many amazing people that follow me, were sending me emails of encouragement telling me , that I would find Sailor Sam. My Cousin and her art department at work, even made a missing persons poster for me, so that I could place it on my site.

After a full morning of worry, A light blub went on.

I decided to call the only place we stopped at, just to check and see if he was there. I knew this was a long shot, not to mention the people at Bob Evans would think I am slightly off my rocker, for carrying around a little mini lego man. To my surprise, a wonderful woman named Sami,( I know really weird, her name was Sami) who answered the phone, was the same person who found Sailor Sam. She also said that she thought he was the cutest thing, and she put him with all the rest of the lost toys.
Then she told me she would go and get him right away and that he would be waiting for me
when I came to pick him up.

WOW, is all I can say.

I breathed a HUGE sigh of relief.

So many people have connected over Little Sailor Sam.
Why do think that is?

For me, Sam makes me Smile.
He makes me Stop thinking about the everyday worry and stress I have,

Even if it is just for a brief moment in time.
I hope He does the same for all of you too.

Why do I love Sailor Sam.?

Well, because I just do.
Now Lets See how Sam gets lost.

Monday Morning, Sailor Sam and I got up very early, so he can help me go over my notes.
When I was finished with my Speech, we drove Hannah to the Airport, stopping by Bob Evans for a bite to eat.

Tuesday, I did not see Sailor Sam at all.

Wednesday, I noticed Sailor Sam was missing.
I began to look everywhere for him. I mean Everywhere!!!
Then I immediately put out a APB.
Cathy, my Cousin, and her Art department, made me this poster,
so that I could distribute it everywhere.

I then had to tell Ava and Eddie the bad news.
"Sailor Sam is Missing." I said
They both took it very hard. "OH No!!" Ava said.

Then we all organized a search party.
"lets go find Sailor Sam"

Thursday, after along morning of searching,
Sailor Sam was found at Bob Evans.
YAY!!!!
Thank you Sami, for finding Sailor Sam!!

I missed you Sailor Sam!!!
Thank goodness you are Safe!!!

Ava and Eddie were so happy to see Sam.
"Welcome home Sailor Sam, we were so worried." they told him.

After being gone for so long, Sailor Sam was hungry,
so I gave him a chcolate cookie, shaped like a bear.

Friday, we took Sailor Sam to lunch, he wanted wings.

Friday night, before Sailor Sam ate his banana, I caught him planking on it.
"I am so glad you are HOME Sam, your planking makes me Smile." I told him.

Saturday morning, while I was using Sea Salt to cook with, Sailor Sam said that Sea Salt reminded him of his many trips, traveling on the Ocean.

Saturday evening, while I was working on the computer, Sailor Sam was up to his old tricks.

This time on a disco Ball, which made me Smile!

That night, after his bath, and brushing his teeth, I tucked Sailor Sam into bed.
"Night, Night, Sailor Sam. I am So sorry. I promise to never lose you again."
He replied " It's Ok, we all get lost Sometimes. I knew you would find me."
Then Sailor Sam fell fast asleep.

And for all of you out there, I just want you to know ....

Charm Necklace, DIY

I have been wanting a charm necklace, but I wanted it to be interchangeable and easy. That way I could put on or take off charms according to my mood, or the time of year.

Here is what I came up with.

Tutorial

Things you need

Chain
Pliers
Small jump rings
One large Jump ring
One large lobster claw
Charms

I measured my Chain for the length I want by wrapping it around my neck.

The length of this chain is about 16 inches

With pliers I added my smaller jump rings to the chain,

then I added my large jump ring and lobster claw to those smaller jump rings.

This is your base necklace.

To put it on, you just wrap around your neck

and feed the lobster claw through the large jump ring

then you add your charms.

with the charms on the necklace, The necklace will stay put.

add as many or as little as you want

I added jump rings to the charms as well,

this makes it easy to add to your necklace.

Change it with you mood

Sunday with Sailor Sam: Animal Adventures.

On Monday, Sailor Sam woke up with a headache and a stuffy nose.

"Back to bed Sam, until you feel better." I told him.

Tuesday, Sailor Sam was all better,

and enjoying all the Valentines he received from his many "Girl-Friends."

That Sam is such a stud.

Sailor Sam even received a bouquet Flowers.

Lucky Sam!

Wednesday, Sailor Sam got to meet Ava, our Blind Cat.

and, he also got some new Bling

"Looking good SAM!"

Thursday, While Sam and I were discussing different necklace lengths,

He was able to meet Baby kitty, Pumpkin.

"Hello there Pumpkin, Please don't eat me!."

"Not to worry Sailor Sam, Pumpkin only kills mice." I told him.

We also met Mr. Fuzzy, the white Owl.

Friday, I caught Sailor Sam Pretending to be Harry Potter.

I love it when Sailor Sam uses his Imagination.

On Saturday, after a very, long day at work, I came home to find

out that Sailor Sam had played 7 straight hours on the Xbox.

"OK Sailor Sam, No more Gaming for you for the rest of the week." I scolded.

Before falling a sleep that night, Sailor Sam and I caught up on some reading.

Sailor Sam was reading about Turkey Hunting, and I was practicing my Speech.

Sunday Morning I caught Sailor Sam Smelling the new coffee that I had bought from Starbucks,

Casi Cielo. Mmm, It smells so good, with Lemon and Dark Cocoa notes.

Let's have a cup of coffee Sam.

A little later, I caught Sailor Sam and Cola, our Chocolate Lab, looking out the window together.

I think they are becoming best friends.

Awww, isn't that so sweet.?

Chain Rings, DIY

Of course~ Everyone has seen these cute, dainty, chain rings.

I wanted one or two or three,

So DIY~ing them seemed reasonable to me.

I did changed mine slightly, just to fit me.

Tutorial

Things you need.

Chain
Jump rings
Pliers
Clasp

Measure your finger.

I measured a little big,

then I connected the chains together with a jump ring.

I tried it on several times.

Then I cut the excess chain with pliers.

Link with a jump ring

Easy,

Now you can tweak it, to fit you.:)

Add jump rings and clasps to chain,

to change up your rings.

This way you can take it off easier,

if you want a different look.

Or connect two chain rings, with a chain,

MY Favorite.

Make them fit YOUR Style.

Off the Shoulder Sweatshirt: DIY.

Inspiration

Tutorial

Things you need

Sweatshirt ~mine is a mens medium~
Scissors
Paint Pens
Pencil
Paint brush

I cut around the collar about an inch down from the seam.

cut the collar out

Sketch a pattern in pencil

Go over your pencil with your paint pen

I smoothed it out with my paint brush,

then I sprinkled the wet paint with glitter.

let that dry,

then shake off the glitter.

cut out leaf shapes in the middle of your pattern,

I cut one leaf shape, on the bottom side of the shirt.

My Hannah has stolen my sweatshirt:)

I am attaching a video so all of you can see how I did this. So many of you had so many questions about it, that I thought this would be the quickest and easiest way to explain.

Tutorial

Things you need

Glitter
Glue
Brush
Tape
Paper towels
Wax Paper, or Plate~ to mix glue and glitter on.

Tape off your Shoe

Mix your glue and glitter

and apply a thin layer of that mixture on your shoe.

Sprinkle over the mixture with more glitter.

Let dry completely.

Cover with a final coat of glue.

Let that dry completely as well.

Sunday with Sailor Sam. Adventures Outside.

Let's see what Sailor Sam has been up to this week.

On Sunday, Sam invited Ava and Eddie over to watch The Super Bowl.

Monday, we saw a Big, Purple Dragon.

Tuesday, Sailor Sam met Avery for the first time.

"She's the cutest, baby ever." Sam said.

Avery thought Sam was pretty cute too.

OH nooooooo. !!!!

"It's OK Anne" Sam said.

" I am a Sailor I can take it."

"You are a trooper, Sailor Sam." I told him.

Thursday, we went for a walk outside and saw so many awesome things,

like a giant bunny...

Some pretty red flowers.

Sailor Sam even got to climb a tree.

"WOW! Sam, you are so high. Be careful." I told him.

After our walk outside, Sam was hungry,

so we ate some chocolate covered Pretzels. YUM!

Saturday, Sam met up with Eddie.

Eddie was going to teach Sailor Sam how to Fish.

Sam was soooo excited.

"Nice job Sailor Sam, you caught your first fish!"

That night, Sailor Sam made us Sushi!

Sunday, we ate homemade biscuits and gravy.

"YUMMMMMY!, My Favorite." Sailor Sam said.

A little while later I caught Sailor Sam trying to catch Peter Pan, our Beta Fish.

"No Sam, Peter is our pet, you can't catch him.!" I scolded.

That night, I tucked Sailor Sam into bed.

Sailor Sam was so tired that he rolled over, and was snoring in just seconds.

"Good Night, Sailor Sam," I whispered. "I Love You!"

Shirt Dress

Dinner out, is just truly one of my favorite things to do.

Good company, a wonderful meal and no dishes to be done afterwards.

Hannah showed me this shirt dress at Khol's and the price was just to good to be true, marked down to just $15.00. I couldn't walk away from it without it coming home with me. Pair that with some Gianni Beni Booties and you are all set.~ which were also 60% off the markdown price.

Glitter Your Belt Buckle, DIY

I had asked the question on my facebook page,

"What would you like to see Re-Styled.?"

and one of the answers was, A Belt.

Well it just so happens that I have this old belt that needed a little help,

and what better way to fix it, than with a little Glitter and Glue.

Tutorial

Things you need

Old Belt
Mod Podge glue and or E6000 glue
Glitter Paint Brush

Clean your belt

Pour our a little glitter and a little glue on a plate or waxed paper.

Mix it together

Carefully paint it on your belt buckle.

~If you mess up just wipe down with a wet paper towel~

While the glue mixture is still wet, Sprinkle some more glitter on your belt buckle

Let that dry!!~ yes, you have to.~

Then coat the glitter buckle with a coat of mod podge.

To seal it!
*If you have trouble with the mod podge glue adhering to the metal.
use E6000 on the metal, sprinkle that with glitter and then seal it with mod podge on top *

Let that dry! 24 hours ~ yes, you should~

Then, let it shine!

"Re-Style #56 Heart Shaped, Off the Shoulder Tee-Shirt

I hope I am finding all of you well this week.

In honor of Heart Day,
I wanted to do a Heart, off the shoulder Tee-shirt.

Now, I am going to be honest with you,

this was not a super easy 5 minute shirt, but it was not the hardest either.

If you have a sewing machine and an hour, you could most definitely make this.

Tutorial

Things you Need

Tee-Shirt~ I used a large, Grey, Hanes Tee-Shirt~
Scrap piece of T-Shirt in a contrasting color, or just a scrap piece of material to cover the heart you make.
Sewing Machine
Scissors
Straight Pins

First cut your collar off to make your shirt an off the shoulder shirt,
~ I cut right around the edge of the collar.~

If you want to keep the collar, then leave it alone.

draw a heart on your shirt with chalk
You could trace one on paper or print a heart off the internet
if you don't want to draw it free hand.

Inside your heart, draw lines 3/4 of an inch apart.

carefully cut the lines inside the heart.

Turn your shirt inside out and place your scrap piece of material over the heart and pin it.

Turn it back right side out and sew around the edge of the heart.

Now sew each one of the grey stripes down the middle,

this will anchor the heart so it keeps its shape.

turn your shirt inside out again and trim the excess material around the heart.

and trim any leftover thread.

Now you are all finished.

Sunday's With Sailor Sam: The Busy Day.

"Good Morning Sailor Sam. Time to rise and shine , we have lots to do today." I said

"Can we go see my friends at the Toy Store today?" Sam asked "Sure thing Sam!" I replied

We started our day at the toy store, visiting some of Sailor Sam's friends.

Can you believe Sailor Sam knows Superman....

Batman AND Cat Woman!

Well he does.

After the Toy Store, we had a quick lunch.

"Eat some of your Pizza, Sailor Sam, before you have any Chocolate covered Craisins." I told him.

After lunch Sailor Sam and I made our lists for the Grocery store.

I always let Sailor Sam pick at least ONE thing from his list..

Well OK, TWO!

After the Grocery store, we returned home to put away all the groceries.

"Why are you always PLANKING on food Sailor Sam?!" I asked.

He Said "Because it makes you SMILE, and I like to see you Smile."

" Thank you Sailor Sam, I do like to Smile!"

After all of those sweets, Sailor Sam wanted Ava the Aerobics teacher

to come over and give him a private workout class.

Great Job Sailor Sam!

"You have Great form Sailor Sam." Ava Said

"Thanks, Ava!!" Sam Replied.

After his workout, Sailor Sam wanted me to take his picture with this new Car From Ford,

The EVOS.

"One day, Sailor Sam," I said " maybe you will have one!"

That night, Sailor Sam wanted to help me edit some pictures and video for my blog.

"Does that angle make me look fat?" Sailor Sam asked. "NO Sam, it doesn't, you Silly" I replied.

After a very long day of visiting friends and editing for my blog,

I looked over and found Sailor Sam fast asleep.

So I tucked him into bed.

"Night, Night Sailor Sam." I whispered. "See you Tomorrow."

Grey, No Sew Vest

Because of all of the questions I have received about this project,
I have done a quick video on this No Sew Vest.
This vest is very Similar to some of the other vests I have done, with slight variations .

Hopefully this will answer some of those questions.
Written instructions will be below as well.
You can basically make this in about 5 minutes.

Tutorial

Things you need

Large or Extra large T-Shirt (I use Hanes)
Scissors

Here is a quick, four minute video on how I did it.

fold your shirt in half
cut wear the red lines are
open the shirt back up: cut a straight line, up the middle of the front.
cut three strips from one of the sleeves
tie where shown.

This is very similar to this T-vest I did last Summer.

Cord ,two pieces one 22 inches long, the other about 6 inches long.

Take your cord that is 22 inches long

Fold in half and tie a knot in the middle.

String your bead.

Tie another knot.

now you are going to tie a square knot to connect the two cords,

I just learned how to tie a square knot today, so I am pretty excited.

measure the widest part of your hand, so you can slip the bracelet on and off.

Keep it at this measurement,

and add your two other beads, one on each cord

tie a knot on both ends after the bead,

place a little glue on the knots

(I use E-6000 glue)

Trim the excess cord

Now you are finished

Something fun to do on the weekend.

Make some for your friends for Valentine's Day.

First of All,
I just have to say to Everyone, Thank You Sooooo much. !!
The last 3 days I have been swamped
with wonderful responses to my 5 minute draped vest post, from last Tuesday.

Tutorial
Things you need

Dark jeans
Gold Paint I used Acrylic, Metallic gold ( Folk art)
Paint Brush
Water
Plate
Paper Towels

Paint your jeans, starting at the top and working your way down.

Use a little water if you need to blend in your paint.

If you paint the middle of the leg, it gives the illusion of a thinner leg.

Same with the back paint just under the bum. and the top of your pockets.

If you want to go full on gold

Paint the whole jean, leaving just little dark jean showing through.

I think that would look amazing as well..
Let dry, at least overnight.

Wait 72 hours before you Wash in cold water and hang to dry.

I added metallic gold fabric paint, on top of what I had already had done.

Sunday with Sailor Sam; Bad Dream.

Sailor Sam has been settling into his new life quite nicely.

Let's go check what Sailor Sam has been up to.

This week, Sailor Sam helped me with some braclet orders I had.

That Sam is such a fast learner.

Sam also inspected a few things before they where shipped out.

"Looks Good" He Said

I caught him one morning, very early, Pinning some yummy food on Pinterest.

That Sam is always hungry.

He learned how to Edit Video

and was a BIG help on the video I did this week.

To thank Sam for his very Fine job, I made him his very own Arm Party.

"Thank You Sam!"

Later that day, Sailor Sam showed me that he could Plank on a Lemon.

"Nice job Sam, now get Down."

Silly Sam!

One night , very late,

Sailor Sam woke me up and told me he had a Bad Dream.

He Said it was about the Dark Side, and Grim,

and that he was Very Scared.

I gave Sam an Apple turnover, to help him feel better.

"It's alright Sam, it was just a Dream."

I told him I would watch over him, while he slept.

Sailor Sam fell back to sleep and slept soundly the rest of the night.

The next morning Sam tried some yummy Blueberries.

Sailor Sam said he was going to try and eat healthier.

When it was time for bed,

Sailor Sam said he was afraid to go to sleep.

I told Sam that I would read him a book before bed.

He picked "Humphrey the Bear", because it is about Dreams.

I wonder if Sailor Sam is Still dreaming about Grim?

Gold Toes, DIY

I guess I am hard on shoes, or I just wear them until the completely die. Like my other pairs of shoes, these where looking a little sad:( and in desperate need of a face lift. I then decided to add a touch of gold leaf, to make them happy and shine again.

Here are a couple of shots of the poor, pitiful things.

Tutorial

Things you need

Gold leaf kit $8.00 at Michaels
Brush
Wax paper
Tape
Old shoes

First , clean your shoes with a clean cloth and a little water. Dry them really well.

I taped my bows back
Then with a brush, I brushed on the adhesive where I wanted the gold leaf to stick.
Let that sit for 30 minutes~ at least.
(Yes, you have to)

Follow the instructions on the gold leaf kit
lay a piece of leaf over the toe and use your brush to smooth it down,
and/ or to get rid of all the excess gold.

If you have any places where the gold didn't stick, for heavens sake, DON"T panic, just go over it with the glue again, let it sit for 30 minutes , and reapply your gold leaf

until you get the desired look you want.

Once you have the look you want, Seal it with the sealer that came with the kit,
( do not use Water based sealer such as mod podge,)
it has to be a oil based one..

Let dry over night
and then, they are ready to wear.

I can only imagine what you are thinking right now. Where the Heck is my Monday Re-Style project. Well It is right beside, me waiting for some pictures to be taken of it. Without boring you with the details, I have to switch tonight's Project with tomorrows Clothes post. I hope you understand that sometimes being a blogger, Mother, Wife, and worker outside of the home,
everything can all run together and explode, making an extreme mess.

For tonight, Clothes is on the agenda.

Sunday With Sailor Sam; Saving Face

Many things happened to Sailor Sam this week.

Let's go check it out.

This Week, Sailor Sam and I were up really early most mornings, getting lots of work done!

He seemed to miss the Ocean, because he spent one afternoon watching Peter Pan, our beautiful Beta fish.

To cheer Sailor Sam up, I bought him a big, fat chocolate brownie.

We had to take another trip to see Dr. Dan, because he was losing his face.

Gasp" Can you Save him Dr. Dan!"

We decided that we had to perform face surgery right away .

There's my handsome Sailor Sam! Welcome back Sam.

Thanks, Dr. Dan.

We celebrated his great surgery success by doing a little DIY together.

He made this really pretty Bracelet out of chain and diamonds.

Sailor Sam wanted to know why my nails were two different colors.

I told him it was all in the name of Fashion.

He told me he like the colors I picked for my nails, especially the Glittery orange one.

Thank you Sam!

He also told me he knew the Lego's on this Valentines Day box.
I am super impressed

Then, after a very long day of working, I found Sailor Sam asleep with his glasses on. Aww so cute.

DIY, Fold-over, Canvas Clutch

About a month ago, my beautiful sister sent me a message on Facebook, telling me I had to make one of these clutches. Since then, I have been kind of recreating it over and over in my mind.
How will I do this?
What materials will I use?
What size will it be.?
Yesterday I found a canvas bag that would work perfect.
I also want to make one in Leather, but this was a trial run.

So here is My version of the bag my Sister wants.

Now this bag is made from the, ever so easy to obtain and inexpensive canvas.
Leather is my next adventure, but I wanted to do a trial run with canvas, so I am not wasting expensive, harder to obtain, leather.
Plus, I think canvas for spring is perfect.
Wanna make one?

Tutorial
Things you need

Canvas 30" long by 20" wide (the dimensions of the finished bag will be 15" by 10")
Zipper 7 inches
Glue
Glitter
Scissors
Paint brush
Tape ( not shown) Painters tape or duct tape
Sewing machine
Straight Pins

Sew a basic rectangle
leaving one of the shorter sides open

Fold the bag over and decide where you want your zipper.

turn your bag inside out.
Lay your zipper down and trace around the outside of it.
Now you are going to measure in, about a half inch from both ends, so that when you sew the zipper onto the bag it will fit perfect.
draw a box with a line down the middle like in the picture above.
then you are going to cut where I have marked.

fold that down and iron it so it stays.

now lay your zipper on top of that
match up your edges and pin if you need to hold it.
you should use a zipper foot to sew all the way around the edge.
I did not use a zipper foot, but zipper foot is most likely the way to go.
turn right side out and check your work.
UNZIP the zipper.,and turn it back inside out.

with the zipper open, sew the last top edge of your bag.
*make sure the zipper is open or you will not be able to turn your bag right side out again.

After you have your bag all finnished it time to decorate it.
YAY!! the best part.
tape off your stripes.

mix your glue and glitter

paint the glue/ glitter mixture onto your bag,
then sprinkle a little extra glitter on top of that.

let that dry.~two hours maybe~
then paint one more coat of just glue on top of the glitter stripes, to seal the glitter.
after about 1 hour, slowly remove your tape.
then let that completely dry 2 to 3 hours.

I added a charm onto my zipper for easy open and close access.
Fold-over clutch complete.

Tye-Dyed Cupcakes.

Why tye-dyed cupcakes?

Well because they are Pretty and I want to share Pretty with you.
My Beautiful Daughter, Hannah, made these amazing cupcakes that I just had to share.
Oh yeah, and I helped :) (a little)

Looks normal Right?

Well they're not!:)
They are packed full of fun color!

Things you need

Plus all the ingredients that it takes to make the cake(on the Box).
Icing (if you want)
5 bowls
Spoons
Cupcake liners
Food coloring

Mix your cake mix as directed on the box

Divide cake batter into 5 bowls,
make each bowl a different color

Layer each color

anyway you want

Bake@ 350
20 minutes

Let cool, then use the icing of your choice.

Rainbow.
Soo easy and the kids will LOVE it!!

Seeing this made me so happy.
You can't tell me that eating something this colorful, would not make you happier.

Re-Style # 53 ~ Gold Leaf Heels

First of all, Thank you so much Colleen for your wonderful question. Second, I hope this helps.

I have been thinking about this for a couple of days and this is one solution I came up with.

~ Gold leaf.~

I have to confess, I have NEVER used gold leaf. :( I know , I know, how could that be? Well I have no answer, except maybe I was afraid of it. Afraid it would be too hard or I would totally screw it up. One thing I have learned this year is, "Who really cares if I mess up.?" Not doing something just because you are afraid, makes life way to Safe, and boring. My next 50 years is going to being spent taking chances and doing things that scare me. Don't get me wrong I am not going to go crazy robbing banks, doing drugs or jumping out of planes, but creating things and taking chances with what I love in the style/ art world, well, that is what I 'm talking about.

And sometimes, more than not, you create something pretty awesome!!

(And it was pretty easy)

Tutorial

Things you need

Gold leaf kit~ Michaels
One very small, one medium, paint brush.
Wax paper
Shoes
Soft cloth

Clean your shoes really well.
These are a pair of my Jessica Simpson shoes.

Apply a coat of the adhesive. Let this sit for 30 minutes( yes you have to.)

Then cut a piece of wax paper

lay this under one sheet of your gold leaf, rub lightly so the gold leaf sticks to the wax paper.

This way, it is much easier to apply to your shoe.

Now lay the gold leaf over where you put your glue,

rub lightly.

peel off the wax paper

take your medium brush and use it to rub over the gold leaf.

If you have places that the gold did not stick to, just reapply the adhesive let it sit for another 30 minute

( Yes you have to.)

and reapply your gold. These shoes only took 1 sheet of gold.

do this until your whole heel is covered.

Repeat this for the other shoe.

The instructions on the gold leaf kit will help you as well.

use a soft cloth to rub over the gold softly, just to make sure everything is adhered and it also buffs the gold,

just do not rub too hard. Light hands ladies.

This also cleans up the extra gold.

I let my shoes sit for about 24 hour before I sealed them with the sealer that came with the kit.

You should NOT use a water based sealer, you need and oil based one. That is why I loved the kit, everything was there. It also has an antiquing paint you could put on, to dull the gold .

Which I am debating on doing.

Sunday with Sailor Sam.

I just thought you would all like to know what Sailor Sam has been up to this week. He has been quite busy settling into his new home with his new family.

When I got up to have my coffee Sailor Sam was right there.

We had to go back to the Doctor because he said he was still feeling a little sick.

Dr. Dan prescribed lots of rest and Vitamin C.

We took a trip to the store to buy some yummy food. He really likes riding in the cart.

We shared a cranberry, white chocolate, coconut cookie, that was delish.

Can you believe Sam ate all of my gluten free cupcake? Bad Sam for not sharing.

After eating all that sugar we had to brush our teeth. Teeth are very important Sailor Sam.

Then we took a nice hot bath.

All Clean. He L O V E S bath time.

Then before bed we did a little light reading. I explained to Sam that Fashion and DIY are very Important. He agreed.

I have been kind of obsessed with these boot socks I came across on Pinterest HERE

Had to make some..

I just so happen to have some sleeves left over from a sweater vest I made, so I decided to put them to the test.

Now I am even more obsessed with finding some more old sweaters, to make more Boot Socks.
My only advice about this is, don't pick a sweater that is too chunky or too thick, stick with a thinner sweater it works much better.

Dainty, Wire Rings. DIY

Make your own

I have seen a few beautiful, dainty, wire rings lately and I have fallen in love.

Case in point.

Kelly From The Glamouri

had on these two simple silver rings from her Ship wrecked Shoot.

The best thing about most of these rings are

that you can make them yourself, with a few supplies, and a little know how.

Tutorial

Things You Need.

Wire
Beads
Candle
Pliers

Cut your wire the length you want.

This wire was 6 inches long, for this particular ring I am doing.

Take your candle and wrap the wire around .

You will have to judge what size you want by your finger.

Twist it around once

Slide on your bead on

make sure the hole is lined up west to east ..

not north to south

Start to wrap one of your wires, starting at the top of the bead and working your way down.

Then wrap the other wire, doing the same thing. Start at the top (in between) the other wire and work your way down.

The end piece will be sticking out :

so use your pliers to push it down flush

Project Re-Style # 52, Lace Clutch, DIY

My old clutch needed a face lift, so I decided on black lace.

Welcome Everyone to Project Re-Style NUMBER...( Drum roll)...

# 52.

This Project marks My ONE YEAR of Re-Styling.

WOW!! I did it, and believe me it will not stop here.

This year coming, I am going to continue to Re-Style and DIY until the cows come home.

Every week I will still Re-Style something from my closet, Plus I will continue to DIY things from the fashion world, that I want, but can't spend that $1000.00 on.

First and Foremost

I need to THANK each and every one of you for making this year a turning point for me.

I have finally made it to that right track and I will continue going down this track until I am too old to move.

I love, love, love, doing this blog and creating things, more than anything, it fuels me.

I can never express to all of you

how much I appriciate your words of encouragement and you ever growing support.

So..... if I can wipe my face off and blow my nose,

We can get down to Re-Styling.

Tutorial

Things You Need

Lace
Old Clutch
Scissors
Glue
Clothes Pins( Not Shown) 4 or 5
Ribbon about, 3 feet.

Cut your lace about an inch wider, on all sides,

than the size of your purse

Place your purse in the middle of the lace.

Cut slits where you want to fold the lace.

Place glue on the inside of the purse.

Fold over the sides fist then fold the top down.

place your clothes pins on the corners, to hold it.

I also cut small slits so the knobs at the top could go through.

I glued ribbon over the lace on the inside of the bag.

I cut a piece of ribbon to go around the outside of my purse.

You could tie a bow to yours,

or decorate however you like.

Now, Let it dry, really well.

I let mine dry five or six hours.

*Make sure you check the clothes pins and move them to different spots,

so they won't get glued to your purse.

Now you have a NEW purse.

It kind of looks sexy enough to take out for Valentine's Day

I found Poor Sailor Sam Lying on the parking lot of Walgreens, New Years Eve. He was all disheveled and lonely so I rescued him. Now he is having fun adventures with me, in his new life.

You read it right, this scarf is selling for $1,100.00

When I first saw this scarf on Pinterest I said to myself "That would make a great DIY." Then I saw the Price and I said "Yeah! I am most definitely doing that." I found my scarf at Pac Sun, On sale, for $7.00 the lace was $10.50 but I only used 1/4 of it, I also used this lace on my LBD Re-Style HERE and I still have a little left over to do another DIY.

Tutorial

Things you need

Scarf
Lace
Sewing machine
Scissors
Straight pins

First, cut your lace,

2 pieces.

6 inches wide by the length of your scarf

I trimmed my lace around the flowers.

Pin the lace to each end of the scarf

and

Sew with your sewing machine or you could hand sew it..

Make it yourself ,

I just want to share with you my new obsession, which is Instagram. Kind of like Twitter but with pictures. The best thing about this app is I can keep up with my family and Friends though pictures. It makes me feel like I am right there with them, when they are miles away. I am completely in love with is app and as my Sister, so nicely pointed out, I might need a Instagram Intervention. In my defense, I am just a very visual person and this is a fantastic way for me to share with you what is going on in my DIY world as well as my other life. Project Re-Style #51 Faux-Glitter Collar

Now is a great time to fulfill your dreams, and take that chance. Only you can change the path you are on, so if your on the wrong one, find a new one.

Welcome everyone to my Project Re-Style.

I am so happy you have joined me.

After this Re-Style I will have 52 Re-styles under the bridge.

One whole year of changing something old into something new and different. It doesn't take a lot of money to have a great wardrobe, just a little imagination and maybe a little glitter and faux- fur. So Go ahead, update your closet yourself.

This week, I was loving the Faux-collars that I came across,(HERE) and the best part is, I just happened to have a collar that I cut off from another Re-style.

Tutorial

Things you need

Collar
Glitter
Glue
Needle and thread
Paint brush
Ribbon
Broken Ornament (not shown)

Once you have cut your collar,

sew the back of the collar so it lays flat.

Cover in glue. I used , Mod Podge

Cover with Glitter. Let dry for 4 or 5 hours

Shake off all the extra glitter.

Take your Broken Ornament

Sew ornaments to the tips of your collar.

add ribbon of your choice

and your are all done.

Wear it with your favorite sweater

or as just a necklace.

We had a wonderful Low key, dinner out with my brother and his wife. It was a perfect way to spend New Years Eve. Don't get me wrong, I love a good Party, but Quit time with Family is way more fun. The only thing that could have made it more perfect would have been having all my family there.

Well, all of us here in Central Florida enjoyed a very warm Christmas this year. But I have to be honest, I am really ready for some cooler weather. You see, we have so much hot weather, that I look forward to the cold weather, for a little while at least.
It is the only way I can wear all my fun winter clothes.

I hope everyone had a wonderful Christmas,

now I have to start thinking about an outfit for New Years Eve.

More Glitter and Glue Shoe Fixes.

These are my favorite flats, and you can tell because I have literally worn them out. Because I am not quite ready to toss them away, I had to fix them. What better way to hide scuffed up leather?

Glitter and glue, of course!

Tutorial

Things you need

Glitter
Glue
Paper Plate
Paint brush

First clean your shoes

Mix up a paste with your glitter and glue.

apply to the part you want to cover

sprinkle on some more glitter and let dry,

then shake off all the extra glitter.

coat with one final thin layer of glue.

and let that dry.

and now you have a new pair of shoes,

~ well kind of~

Project Re-Style # 50, Faux-Fur Vest.

Fur and Faux- Fur, is so "In Style" this season.

I have seen, vests, sleeves, scarves, purses, swarming the internet, all made from fur and faux- fur. So I decided to make a Faux- fur vest so I can have that little extra "Je ne sais pas". Belt it, wrap it around your neck,or leave it without a belt.

This was a perfect project for me,

because I am a big fan of Versatile and changeable.

Welcome everyone, to my Project Re-Style Monday.

This week I made a faux fur, vest/ scarf/ wrap.

You can add a belt to it to make a vest, or leave it to have a scarf, or just wrap it around your shoulders.

(This ONE Blanket has come in so handy.)

Things you need.

Faux fur( mine was a blanket)
I cut my piece 48 inches long, by 11 inches wide
Scissors
Pins ( to pin it together before you sew it )
Sewing machine.

First, I cut out the shape above.

Cut, where there is a green line.

Sew, where there is a red line.

If you use the edge of the blanket you only have to sew one side.

I cut mine in the middle of the blanket and so I had to sew all the way around.

Believe it or not, that is all there is to it.

Now you can,

Belt it, like this.

or Wrap it around your neck

Like this.

or wrap it around your shoulders like this.

I think I might add this to my New Years Eve outfit.

This is a Little Black Dress I purchased for a New Years Eve Party about 4 years ago. I love the simplicity of it. I can change this dress, just by changing the accessories. If you are trying to pick out a dress that is going to have that ( last -ability) aspect, pick one that has a simple shape, and one with clean lines. Think Audrey Hepburn, in Breakfast at Tiffany's.

One Little Black Dress or Two

Do you have one?

You know, A black dress you could pull out and wear at a moments notice. I suppose the the necessity in a LBD is having something to wear when nothing else works. I just Re-styled this one. But I do have one more which I will post tomorrow. The other one is also simple and classic. The best thing about the simple black dress is you can change it with the accessories you wear.

Every Girl needs one or two.:).

Happy Monday Everyone!

Sorry, but this post is going to be short and sweet I hope!

Busy, Busy, Busy

is the name of the game and I know all of you are feeling the exact same way.

So in order to save time I am hoping this post will be short and to the point.

a Wool blend,LBD (Little Black Dress) from the Gap.

Re-Style~ Lace it up.

I thought that this dress was just a little too short for me, so I added 6 inches of lace.

Tutorial

Things you need

Lace
Sewing machine
Scissors
Pins

First I cut my lace

36 inches long by 6 inches wide.

Then I stitched the two ends together

Turn your dress inside out and pin the lace onto the dress

Side

I made a gather on one side,

and I sewed all the way around
with the sewing machine.

I liked it before,

now I love it!

I am thinking, maybe, New Years Party or Dinner.

Glitter Your Candles, DIY

Happy one week before Christmas everyone!

My Christmas shopping has officially begun. I always save all my Christmas shopping until the week before Christmas. I did cheat a little this year, I bought a few gifts yesterday and because I am making most of the things that I am giving away, I started on that about a month ago.
This DIY was because I had a candle problem, the Problem being, I wanted to fix my silver candles that were peeling and looking a tad bit ugly. So What did I do? Glitter them of course. This would be a great way to dress up your candles for that Christmas or New Years Eve Party. And ....it only took me about 20 minutes to do all 6 candles.

Tutorial

Things You Need

Candle
Pretty glitter
Glue
Paint brush
Pie pan

Paint your candle with glue

Cover with Glitter

let dry.
Then put a coat of Mod Podge on it and let that dry.
That keeps the glitter from getting everywhere.

Now your Old candles look like new ones.
I guess this could be considered a Re-Style.

Aww Cola bear.

We had a wonderful dinner date at Carrabba's with some good friends of ours, Adam, Leah and their adorable, 7 year old son, Cameron. While at dinner, Cameron asked me to play this easy game called Tic Tack Toe. (EASY MY EYE) I was completely and totally demolished, crushed. I feel so deflated. I was being beaten by a 7 year old. Oh well, I guess losing to the~ "oh so cute"~, Cameron is not all that bad. He did have an advantage over me. Let me state my case. Right before his final smack down, Cameron proceed to say to me, with those baby blues, and I quote, "Wow! your jacket is sooooooooo veeeeerrrrry, very, soft" while simultaneously rubbing my back, then proceeded to get three O's in a line.

"Well that little stinker." I thought. I guess he is learning early about the advantages of distracting your opponent. Sigh.

On a higher note the Dinner was Amazing!!

Arm Candy, Color Block Bracelets, DIY

As promised, here is the super easy tutorial.
Afraid of Color Blocking?
Start off slow with these colorful bracelets,
wear them alone or mix them with your other arm candy.

Tutorial
Things you Need

Cord~ Wal-mart craft section~
Pretty Buttons
Colored wire ~Wal-mart craft section~
Small paint brush
Pliers
Fabric glue ~not shown~

Using your pliers, cut your wire about 5 inches.

Wrap it around your small paint brush

Cut two pieces of cord, each one about 12 inches long.

fold each cord in half.

attach one of your cords to your spiral wire

add the other cord to the other side,
with your fingers close the spiral.

add your pretty button about 3 1/2 inches from the spiral

tie a knot

on the other side measure about 3 1/2 inches and tie a knot,

then another knot for the button to fit through.

trim the excess

add a drop of glue on each knot

All done!

mix up the colors however you want, and make them different sizes.

Keep them or give them away.
